This section of our
website is dedicated to the projects through which the Council fulfills its mission to support the Arts in our schools and
our community.

The CCAC supports the Arts in our community
In September, 2009, the CCAC chose the Catalina Recreation Center as a beneficiary. Recreation Leader, Mary
Quijada, was asked to make up a "wish list" of arts and crafts supplies for the youth she supervises with such dedication. Posing with all the colorful, sparkly things: Mary Quijada, and CCAC members; Linda Valder, Lynda Allyn, Debbie Derting,
Connie Crosby, and Judy Strong.
In October of 2009, the Catalina Community Arts Council chose the Head Start Program at Coronado
K-8 as a beneficiary. The children in the program received all the supplies necessary, from clay pots to paints
to tiles, to complete the projects below.
The CCAC supports
the Arts in our schools
In
2006, the then newly-formed CCAC chose the Art department at Coronado K-8 to be their first benficiary. Two-thousand
dollars in art supplies were presented to the department with the intention that every student might find some medium
through which they could create a personal expression. That relationship continues with the childrens' art exhibit
at the silent auction location during each Catalina Artists Studio Tour.
The CCAC logo above was a project
of those arts students. Of the many designs and images submitted, the Council chose 4 that seemed to best
capture the Catalina "mystique". The images were then digitally manipulated by U of A student, Brian Crosby,
to create the image you see here..

The CCAC supports public Art
Canyon
Community Bank, at 15883 N. Oracle Road in Catalina, has graciously welcomed and supported CCAC by providing a much-needed
venue for public art display in our community. The constantly evolving collection includes wall-hung and cased
pieces. Their staff welcomes you to walk through and enjoy the work of our talented local artists. If you're
a Catalina area artist interested in displaying your work, you can read the guidelines under "Public Art Displays"
here.
The Arts Council is currently working with; Pima County Parks Project Manager, Lauren Harvey, Tucson-Pima Arts
Council Representative, Maryellen Wooten, and Catalina Regional Park Citizens Advisory Committee Member, Linda Grey, on plans
for public art and a memorial plaza at the small family park site within the Catalina Regional Park.
Members of
the Arts Council have also met with Catalina Regional Park Manager, Don Carter, to discuss the possiblity of including public
art at various other locations within the CRP such as the barn at White Dog Ranch.
